TAROVERIE / COLORS
Tarot colors
Color is one part of a card’s visual language. Find the color first, then read the object, gesture and surrounding scene.
These nine entries compare colors in the Rider–Waite–Smith deck. Associations vary by deck, tradition and printing; a color alone is not a prediction.
Purple
Purple can lend a scene solemnity and invite associations with spiritual meaning.
Meaning
The object carrying the color matters. Justice’s curtain sets a background, while the scales and sword remain the basis for judgment. The Lovers’ angel wears a gray-purple garment in some editions. Purple does not establish concealment.
