Purple

The object carrying the color matters. Justice’s curtain sets a background, while the scales and sword remain the basis for judgment. The Lovers’ angel wears a gray-purple garment in some editions. Purple does not establish concealment.

Justice: purple curtain behind the figure.

The Lovers: the angel’s gray-purple garment, depending on the edition.

These are contextual reading associations, not a universal color code. Some Golden Dawn ritual schemes associate red, yellow and blue with fire, air and water; they do not fix the meaning of every colored object. Other colors also vary by tradition and printing. Sources distinguish contemporary reading experience, Waite’s descriptions and historical ritual schemes.
